Every year there are players who look like great picks on paper, until they don’t deliver.
Whether it’s a new system, fading efficiency, or bad surrounding talent - these are the landmines you have to avoid:
#4 Breece Hall
The Jets have been open about using a 3-man committee - with rookie Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis both expected to be involved.
Then there’s Justin Fields. Mobile QBs tend to hurt pass-catching RBs because they lead to fewer dump-offs, more QB scrambles, and fewer red zone carries for the RB…
#3 James Cook
Cook scored 18 touchdowns last season - but don’t count on that again.
He finished outside the Top 25 RBs in targets and total touches. And Josh Allen still remains a red zone vulture…
#2 Alvin Kamara
Kamara saw the most touches of his career last season and his efficiency dropped.
He turns 30 this year. And he now enters a new system under Kellen Moore - an OC who historically doesn’t prioritize RBs in the pass game.
Throw in a below average O-Line and a shaky QB situation and Kamara is a stay away at his current price…
Sam LaPorta
LaPorta was a TE3 in 2023 - and people are still drafting him like he’ll repeat that.
But in 2024? He slipped to TE8 and become less of a priority in the offense. And now he loses OC Ben Johnson, the architect of much of LaPorta’s early success…
Bottom Line:
Breece Hall, James Cook, Alvin Kamara, and Sam LaPorta all come with red flags - and they’re being drafted as if nothing has changed…
