Christian McCaffrey: Breakout or Bust in 2025?
Everyone’s asking: Is CMC still worth a top pick in fantasy?
Is Christian McCaffrey a Breakout or Bust in 2025?
Let’s start with the obvious: Yes, he burned you last year. McCaffrey played just 4 games in 2024 after dealing with Achilles and knee injuries.
He never looked like himself. And for a first-round pick, that stings. But here’s the wild part, even at less than 100%, he still averaged in his 3 full games:
18.7 touches per game
94 total yards per game
That’s better than most healthy RBs. And now? That’s all in the rearview.
Reports say McCaffrey has zero restrictions this offseason and has looked “awesome” in workouts. We already know what a healthy CMC looks like. Just rewind to 2023:
21 total touchdowns
Over 2,000 scrimmage yards
24.5 fantasy points per game (RB1 overall)
That was with Deebo Samuel siphoning touches and now he’s gone - and Brandon Aiyuk is coming off a serious injury.
Which means we might get an even heavier dose of CMC in 2025. He’s currently being drafted as the RB6 in most leagues in the 2nd round. That feels like a discount…
Bottom Line:
The risk is real — but so is the upside.
If he stays healthy, Christian McCaffrey could break fantasy football… again. And in the 2nd round, that’s a bet worth making.
