Hey!

Today's tip is one that most people agree with in theory, but freeze up on when they're actually on the clock.

Be different in your draft.

I know. It's uncomfortable. You're sitting there, your pick is coming up, and you have a guy you love - but he's not ranked where you're taking him.

Nobody in your league is talking about him. The consensus says he's a reach.

Take him anyway.

George Pickens was a 5th round pick last year. He finished as a Top-5 receiver. Chris Olave was going in Round 6. Also finished as a Top 10 fantasy receiver.

The people who drafted those guys didn't get lucky. They did their homework, had a conviction, and pulled the trigger when everyone else in the room was too afraid to.

That's how you win leagues. Not by drafting the safest consensus team, but by having 2 or 3 picks that are yours.

Groupthink is the enemy of upside. If your entire draft looks exactly like a rankings sheet, you've basically built the most average team possible.

The managers who win are the ones willing to look wrong on draft night to be right by December.

Trust your research. Be different when it makes sense to.
