Hey!

Here are 5 rookie running backs flying under the radar right now. They have the traits that can translate fast once we get NFL Draft landing spots:

#5 Eli Heidenreich

He’s the weirdest profile on the list, and that is exactly why he’s getting overlooked.

Heidenreich is a versatile RB/WR hybrid who ran a 4.44 at 198 pounds, tested extremely well in agility, and he caught 90 passes over his final 2 seasons at Navy while also producing as a runner.

If an NFL team is willing to use him as a movable “weapon” instead of forcing him into a traditional RB role, he has the type of receiving upside that can show up fast in fantasy.

#4 J’Mari Taylor

Taylor is the definition of “role-ready” because he’s already proven he can handle real volume and still contribute as a receiver.

In 2025 at Virgina, he posted 1062 rushing yards, 14 touchdowns, added 43 catches, and forced 55 missed tackles.

He’s not a true burner, but he plays with contact balance and physicality, and that profile earns snaps quickly for Day 3 backs…

#3 Roman Hemby

Hemby is a sleeper because people are holding his dip in production at Maryland against him, but the 2025 Indiana workload tells the best story.

He logged 230 carries for 1120 yards, and Indiana trusted him in big playoff games, which is usually a strong signal for NFL coaches.

Now Hemby doesn’t have breakaway speed, but he has reliable hands (30+ catches in 3 straight seasons) and strong ball security with only 2 fumbles on 710 career carries…

#2 Emmett Johnson

Johnson’s combine numbers looked bad, that has him dropping in people’s eyes. But his production profile is legit.

In 2025, he broke out as a true workhorse with 251 carries for 1451 yards and added 46 catches for 370 receiving yards.

This is exactly the type of 3-down utility fantasy players want. 1821 total yards in 2025 if a mega-producer profile.

He’s not fast in a straight line, but he’s decisive, efficient, and has real receiving value that can translate early. He reminds me a lot of Bucky Irving in that regard…

#1 Nicholas Singleton

Singleton is the classic “buy the dip” back because a down 2025 and current injury is damaging his stock.

He’s 6’0, 224 pounds, and only 21 years old. He already has multiple seasons with 1000+ rushing yards and double-digit touchdowns.

His 2024 season was incredible at Penn State. Singleton produced 1474 total yards, 41 catches and was extremely explosive.

If the foot checks out closer to the draft, he’s the type of discounted pick that can swing fantasy rookie drafts.
