I've drafted over 50 fantasy teams this summer.
But there are only a few players I'd consider must have guys.
These are the 5 best picks in fantasy drafts right now:
#5 Jaylen Waddle
He finished as the WR28 last year but that was a QB issue, not a Waddle issue.
Tua was benched. The Dolphins ranked 25th in passing YPG and 30th in pass attempts.
However, how he's been traded to Denver for a 1st-round pick. Bo Nix just led the NFL in pass attempts in 2025.
Waddle is one of the most efficient WRs in the NFL. If his target volume increases this season, that efficiency should carry him to a standout season.
He’s a great pick in Round 4 right now...
#4 Kenneth Walker
He lands in Kansas City as the clear workhorse.
His "down" year in 2025 was still good for 1000+ rushing yards and a Super Bowl MVP. But most importantly, he has no serious competition in this Chiefs backfield.
The Chiefs paid him nearly $30 million guaranteed to be their guy & his competition is a 5th round rookie and Emari Demercado.
Patrick Mahomes is coming off a torn ACL. He likely won't run as much or be as mobile. This leads to even more possible checkdown targets for Walker…
#3 Kyler Murray
He’s massive upgrade from Minnesota’s QB situation last year.
The Vikings QB room ranked 29th in yards per game last season and led the NFL in interceptions. Now they get an upgrade in Kyler who is in the best situation of his career.
He'll be throwing to Justin Jefferson, Joran Addison Jauan Jennings & TJ Hockenson. Plus, Minnesota has a strong O-Line and a great coach.
You can get Kyler in Round 11 of fantasy drafts, which is the latest you could get a QB who has real Top 5 upside…
#2 Terry McLaurin
He finished as the WR15 in 2024 with a healthy Jayden Daniels producing 13 total TDs.
Then in 2025 injuries derailed everything. Both McLaurin and Daniels were hurt all season, they never played 1 game where both guys were fully healthy.
But now Deebo Samuel & Zach Ertz are gone. That's 171 targets walking out the door and only 32 year old Stefon Diggs was brought in this offseason as a key addition at WR.
McLaurin's current competition is Chig Okonkwo, Treylon Burks & Diggs. McLaurin is still the clear WR1...
#1 AJ Brown
He’s coming off the worst season of his career but still finished as a Top 12 WR in fantasy points per game.
Now he enters 2026 on a new team with a major QB upgrade.
Brown was still the WR12 last year at 14.7 points per game on 121 targets and an elite 29.5% target share (9th). His 4-year averages are 131 targets, 85 catches & 1259 yards.
Now he's the #1 in an offense that ranked 4th in passing yards per game last season...
