The Next Breakout RB Is Hiding In Plain Sight
Don’t get caught sleeping on them...
These rookie RBs are in perfect landing spots — and could become fantasy gold by midseason.
Kaleb Johnson – Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers took Johnson in Round 3 to replace Najee Harris — and he’s built for it:
6'1, 225 lbs, 1,537 yards and 21 TDs last year. He added 22 catches, no fumbles, and ran for 5.8 YPC in the 4th quarter of games.
He reached 22 MPH in-game and was second nationally in breakaway yards. Jaylen Warren is solid but not built for volume — and Mike Tomlin called Johnson a “high-volume runner.”
With 263 carries and 36 targets vacated, plus a zone scheme he already knows, Johnson is plug-and-play ready…
RJ Harvey – Denver Broncos
Harvey was the biggest RB winner from the NFL Draft. Denver took him in the 2nd round and he’s already the top back on the roster.
He led college football the last 2 seasons in explosive runs and just posted 1577 yards, 22 TDs, and 6.8 YPC — with nearly 900 yards after contact last — season.
Now he joins a Sean Payton offense that’s made stars out of early draft picks like Reggie Bush, Mark Ingram, and Alvin Kamara. Harvey could be next…
Woody Marks – Houston Texans
Marks won’t start in Year 1, but he’s a dynasty stash with serious upside.
The Texans traded up for him. He’s an elite receiver with 130 career college catches, solid blocking chops, and a track record of durability.
Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce aren’t long-term threats. If either gets hurt, Marks could see immediate work. And by 2026? He might be the guy…
Bottom Line:
These rookies are undervalued now — but that won’t last. Kaleb Johnson. RJ Harvey. Woody Marks. They’ve got the talent and the opportunity to break out.
